PE |
PE is taught on a Friday. Please ensure your child has their named PE kit in school all week. |
Forest School and Outdoor Classroom |
In year 2, all children take part in learning activities outside the classroom throughout each half term with Miss Fail. Please ensure children have appropriate clothing for the time of year and named wellington boots. Dates can be found in the Class Documents section of the year 2 class page on our website. |
Homework |
Every half term, your child will receive a homework matrix. These activities are mostly linked to subjects covered in class. We ask that one task is completed per week and that you initial and date each activity completed. Evidence of homework can be glued into children’s books, photographs tweeted or emailed to us, or items brought into school! We will collect homework books in on a Wednesday morning. |
Reading |
We are a reading school and actively encourage reading throughout the week. As well as the reading pupils enjoy at school, we would also like children to read to an adult at home at least three times per week. Children will need to have read their phased reading books three times before they are changed. Reading records will be checked on a Friday, but children can ask for their books to be changed throughout the week. |
Spellings |
A list of the KS1 common exception words can be found in the back of homework books and in the spelling box below. Children are expected to spell all of these accurately by the end of the summer term in year 2; we teach these in class and also encourage children to practise them at home. Other spelling patterns are taught within explicit spelling lessons and phonics sessions. |
