Curriculum - Art
Art
At Seamer and Irton Community Primary School, we value Art and Design as an important part of our pupils’ entitlement to a broad and balanced curriculum.
Our art curriculum is carefully sequenced to ensure that the topics and artists studied complement each half-term’s learning journey and build upon the skills and knowledge learned in previous topics and year groups whilst meeting the demands of the National Curriculum. As well as regular cross-curricular art and design lessons, pupils also have opportunities to work on whole school projects and exhibit their work as part of our learning journeys.
We believe that every art lesson should engage, inspire and challenge pupils, equipping them with the knowledge, skills and resilience to experiment, invent and create their own works of art, craft and design. Pupils should also know how art and design both reflect and shape our history, and can contribute to the culture, creativity and wealth of our nation, both now and in the future.
