Curriculum - French
French
At Seamer and Irton Community Primary School, French is delivered as part of a broad and balanced curriculum with vocabulary underpinning the teaching of every French lesson throughout KS2.
We follow the Kapow scheme of work, in line with the requirements of the National Curriculum. We aim to give our pupils the skills they need to express their ideas and thoughts in another language and to understand and respond, both in conversation and in writing. Through teaching our pupil these vital speaking and listening skills, we prepare them for a variety of life opportunities and experiences in a multicultural world.
We aim to promote pupils’ linguistic competence in a way which stimulates their curiosity about language and deepens their understanding of other cultures. We recognise the value and importance that languages have in enabling our pupil to become successful learners through providing them with opportunities for challenge, resilience and collaboration.
